Recovery/Body Maintenence
Recovery is the most underrated part of performing at your best. The beach game is gonna demand a lot of your body. We should all be able to perform basic maintenance on ourselves daily. Whether it’s right after a match or first thing when we wake up, an inventory of how things are working/feeling is a must.
Together we will teach you how to assess what needs care and give tools/tips to improve your mobility, functionality, and alleviate pain.
Tools of the Trade
-
Roll Out
Frequent muscle contractions during a workout can leave muscles in a semi-contracted state. That limits a joint’s ability to move effectively. It also slows down oxygen rich blood from entering your muscles. Rolling is a terrific tool to remedy this. The contract relax method will also prime your nervous system to relax those muscles even deeper.
-
Stretch
Our muscles stretch across our joints. On one bone is the insertion point, and the other an attachment. Muscle fibers work collectively like a pulley system allowing your limbs to bend and straighten. Making sure these muscle tissues have enough slack (but not too much) is paramount for joint health. Stretching accomplishes this “slack method” along with improving muscle soreness and mobility.
